BasicSafe Usability
When people use BasicSafe Safety Management products, they shouldn’t have to puzzle over how to do things. Our aim at BasicSafe is to make every tool so that a person of average ability or experience can use it for its intended purpose without getting hopelessly frustrated.
BasicSafe is designed so that minimal training is required for beginning users. Each user interface explains itself. Users have used words such as “self-evident”, “obvious”, and “self-explanatory” to describe their experience with BasicSafe.
BasicSafe is built on Performance Support theory, the idea that information should be available to workers instead of forcing them to memorize it. What this means is that our products (such as Lockout Tagout, Incident Reporting, and Job Safety Analysis) should guide the user in how to use them. They don’t have to memorize how to use our products. Our products make it clear how they should be used. They are intuitive.
Our products empower novice employees to get up to speed rapidly and perform their job with the minimum of outside coaching or training. BasicSafe helps people who don’t know what they are doing to function as if they do. To this end, every button is clearly labeled, every form element tells you what to do with it, and every page has everything that you need when you need it.
