Basicsafe products are all part of an integrated approach to managing a safe work environment and compliance with regulatory requirements. Basicsafe products utilize open source programming to control future costs to clients and to maintain consistent operation across the World Wide Web. This approach allows the Basicsafe products to perform well in a single site location as well as companies where hundreds of sites are involved. If allowed, the Basicsafe suite can be accessed for use anywhere in the world.
Extensive up front programming based on proven safety methodologies, such as the Key Element safety methods, are the backbone of the Basicsafe suite. Company’s fully utilizing the numerous modules integrated into the Basicsafe suite of products are the ones that receive the most benefit in cost, reduced duplication of effort and improved performance. Where applicable, Basicsafe products can self-audit and maintain records of all history and revisions to records as well as who modified those records. The Basicsafe JSA module can certify that employees have reviewed and understand the known hazards associated with their jobs or work steps. The Basicsafe Lock Out Tag Out module will escalate notification to key employees if audits, changes, or training is not completed on an acceptable schedule.
The integrated approach offered by the Basicsafe suite may or may not be the lowest cost option you will find, but it most likely will provide the best long term overall cost benefit when utilized in the fully integrated manner it is designed for. If an integrated approach is not desired, the Basicsafe suite can be utilized on a module by module basis and may still prove to be cost competitive with other approaches. The advantage of the Basicsafe approach, once in place, is that the next module or modules can be added by the flip of a switch.
The Basicsafe suite is generally offered on a monthly subscription basis and accessible over the internet through computer servers managed by the Basicsafe staff. Many security measures are in place and additional security measures are offered to insure security of customer data. Basicsafe software can also be loaded onto customer servers when desired and authorized by both the customer and Basicsafe management.
Basicsafe is based on the fact that we believe that SAFETY is for everyone. All non-proprietary development work at Basicsafe benefits everyone utilizing the Basicsafe products. Basicsafe and customers share in the cost of the development work when non-proprietary development work is done. This holds down the cost of development work for everyone involved. Basicsafe then recovers cost for this development work through future subscriptions to the Basicsafe suite of these new and enhanced products. Proprietary development work, when requested, generally comes with a higher price since no future subscription revenues results from this work.
Customization of the Basicsafe software for specific customers can be done. This customization is generally done for customers with ten or more sites utilizing the customized features and generally includes a onetime fee for the customizations plus a slightly higher monthly subscription fee due to dedicated server operations for these customized solutions.
All Basicsafe solutions allow a by-site customization of company logos, color schemes, mission statements, identification of key safety staff, and latest news topics can be posted as frequently as desired.
Basicsafe JSA
The Basicsafe JSA is one of the central points of the integrate Basicsafe suite. This module represents the real One-Stop Safety Shop within the Basicsafe system. Employees viewing their JSA have one click access to Lock Out Tag Out procedures for their job or work steps, they have one click access to any MSDS documents for their job, and they have one click access to any Policies and Procedures related to their job. When all these modules are populated with data and linked to the JSA, the employee has one place to go for all their information.
The Basicsafe JSA is consistent with OSHA Handbook 3071 (http://www.osha.gov/Publications/osha3071.pdf )
Generating JSAs within the Basicsafe database is easy and can be set up to link standard job steps to known hazards and required PPE for those know hazards. This linkage of standardized methods allows quicker and more consistent generation of JSA documents. Job Steps, Hazard Identification, and PPE can be selected or created from standardized control panels when needed so that JSAs all contain the same and consistent terminology. JSA documents can be generated without using the standardized methods therefore making each JSA a customized unique document. JSAs can also be generated outside the Basicsafe system and browsed into the Basicsafe system through a simple file transfer. This file transfer method also allows for information beyond just JSA information to be stored in the system, such as: job training information attached to the JSA information.
All creation, edits and history related to any specific JSA is kept within the Basicsafe system. Old JSAs can be archived to reduce clutter for users. JSAs can be kept unpublished if not in use and published for use once approved. With a click of one button users can certify that they have reviewed a JSA and understand the known hazards associated with that job. The Basicsafe system retains these certifications as verification of employee review of the JSA documents.
Simple search tools allow users to locate JSAs through descriptions, JSA numbers, ID numbers, physical locations, departments, job titles. A JSA dashboard allows viewing of upcoming certifications as well as current certifications by employee.
